Did you know that the Navajo Native american tribe lived in the four corners of Utah, Arizona, New Mexico ,and Colorado. In addition to this,  there are many more interesting facts about the Navajo. One could discover these facts through finding out their location, how they met their basic needs, and their customs.

The Navajos lived in Utah,Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado. Their land had canyons, mesas, mountains and valleys. Some of their water sources were  the Colorado river and the Rio Grande River. Today, they live on reservations and around the United States.

The Navajo had a lot of different basic needs than us today. Their Houses were called forked sticked hogans. These were built of three supporting poles and covered with mud and brush. Some types of food the navajo ate were deer, mountain sheep, antelopes and rabbits.

The woman's dress was made of two blankets sewn at the shoulders and belted at the waist. The men wore cotton shirts and trousers.

The Navajo had a really unique culture and beliefs. Some of their  beliefs were of  four tall gods with bodies. The first god  had a white body he was the talking god.The water god had a blue body and the house god had a yellow body.  The fourth had a black body and he was the fire god. Also, in the Navajo family structure, the grandmother was the center of the family.  Young  boys and girls were expected to care for the sheep.

The Navajo lived a lot differently a long time ago  than they would have today. The Navajo tribe had a unique way of living including their basic, needs their location, and their culture. I hope in the future that the Navajos will continue to increase in number  and keep their great culture.
